10 years of BlocAlpin: the top-class bouldering event

20.09.2024

Experience the best bouldering event with the Austrian climbing elite and celebrate this special occasion with us!

BlocAlpin anniversary: a decade of first-class bouldering competitions

Powerful climbing moves, dusty chalk bags and many stars of the scene can be seen at the “BlocAlpin” bouldering event at the Alpinmesse. There is reason to celebrate in the upcoming edition: the competition organized by the Austrian Alpine Club is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year! The Austrian climbing elite will once again be demonstrating their skills and the atmosphere will be similar to that of the World Cup in Innsbruck! Framed by the Alpine event in the Alps, the Innsbruck Alpine Fair, the BlocAlpin is a unique combination. Around 140 athletes, from under-14s to adults, will be able to try their hand at the Alpine Club's competition wall, which will be set up in the exhibition hall especially for this event. The 24 meter long and 4.5 meter high wall offers challenging bouldering problems and has already been used at World Cups as well as World and European Championships.

Once again this year, not “only” the daily winners of the BlocAlpin will be crowned, but also the overall winners of the Austria Climbing Cup series. In this final competition at the Alpinmesse, everyone will have to go the extra mile to make up some final points in the overall standings.

What does “BlocAlpin” stand for?

On the one hand, the name “BlocAlpin” contains the “Bloc” for competition bouldering at the highest level. Our bouldering pros, who are also among the top boulderers internationally, compete with the local stars. On the other hand, the “Alpin” for the setting in which the competition is held: the Alpinmesse, the unique mountain sports fair in Austria, which is a permanent institution in mountain sports. Mountain sports equipment suppliers and trade visitors exchange ideas at the trade fair stands. In the Alpine Forum there are specialist lectures by experts and at numerous workshops on various mountain sports topics, the interested public can pick up valuable tips for safe movement in alpine terrain.
